Ctg Port Advisory Committee meeting postponed

The 14th meeting of the Chittagong Port Advisory Committee to be held on September 27 has been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances.  The advisory committee issued a notice in favor of the members and informed about the suspension of the meeting on Sunday.

 According to sources, State Minister of Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury has decided to postpone the meeting as he is infected with the corona virus. He is also the President of the Port Advisory Committee.  The Member Secretary is the Port Chairman. There are 60 members including all the MPs of Chittagong.

Although the advisory committee was scheduled to meet in three months, it was scheduled to meet a year later for various reasons, including the effects of the global pandemic.  An advisory committee was formed to speed up the activities of the country's major seaports and increase their capacity in October 2010.

There were 1 meeting in 2010, 3 in the following year, 2 in 2012, 1 in 2013 and 2 in 2014.  The meeting did not take place in 2015, 2018.  In the middle of  2 years, 1 meeting was held.  The last meeting was in 2019. Port Secretary Md. Omar Faruq said that all preparations were made by finalizing the date of the meeting of the advisory committee.  But the meeting has been postponed due to unavoidable reasons.  The next date of the meeting will be announced in due course.
