Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Md. Mahabubur Rahman gave an emotional speech to the people of Chattogram on the occasion of his farewell.
Police Commissioner Md. Mahabubar Rahman said, "I thank the people of the city for your cooperation." I am personally grateful to you. I think it is a pleasure for me to serve in Chittagong. In a real sense, the city of Chittagong is as huge as the appearance of Chittagong, the geo-natural beauty is as huge and the mentality of the people here.
"I can give an example. The political leaders here are very big, I don't see any narrowness in them," he said. I politely declined many lobbying requests, but I did not see any dislike in anyone the next day. That means their minds are so big, big that they have accepted the matter. In some cases we could not cooperate with them. We gave them as much support as possible from within the law.
Highlighting the CMP's activities in Corona, the police commissioner said, "Whether we admit it or not, the reality is that the police have a distance from the common man since time immemorial." We did not actually get the chance to reduce this distance. In different ways we tried to decreases the distance but it increased again.
CMP Commissioner Md. Mahabubur Rahman said, "I will truly remember the cooperation I received in Chittagong city." I would like to say to the journalists, I do not know how the future CMP Commissioner will keep in touch with you. But personally, my first job when I woke up was to read a local newspaper online. I used to memorize the rest of the time except office time, what is happening online. Many things do not come to our knowledge. Many times we do not get the real news through our subordinates. But online and through the media, we can learn a lot, which we can take action if true.
Mentioning that Chittagong city dwellers are really big minded people, he said, "Journalists here are also very good people, and ordinary people are very good." Here I find hospitality. This hospitality is not even in my own district. I think Chittagong is very good.
