Chittagong City Corporation Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin said the situation could not be handled by lockdown alone. More medical centers need to be set up to ensure that infected people receive proper medical care and to cope with the rising rate of infection.

It is also important to ensure that samples can be easily tested to identify corona infection and that medical information is available to the public. He urged the media to play an enterprising role in this regard.

CCC Mayor visited the Isolation Center at the City Convention Hall in Agrabad on Sunday afternoon and he said these at a coordination meeting on the final preparations for the launch of the isolation center in the conference room of the CCC office at Tiger Pass in the town.

The mayor announced that the 250-bed Corona Isolation Center at the City Convention Hall in Agrabad set up with CCC management and funding will be launched on June 15.

He added that the corona infection situation in Chittagong has reached alarming levels.

We have to work in a coordinated initiative to handle this situation. CCC is preparing to recruit physicians, nurses and volunteers for the isolation center.

CCC Chief Executive Officer Md. Samsuddoha, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, Chief Engineer Lt. Colonel Sohail Ahmed, Mayor’s Private Secretary Md. Abul Hashem, BMA President Dr. Mujibul Haque Khan and others were present at the time.
