Heritage Corner of Chattogram Zila Parishad will highlight the culture and history of Chattogram.
This heritage corner will be set up on a floor of 8,000 square feet of the 18-storey new building of Chattogram Zila Parishad.
Speakers said this at the first meeting of the committee formed to establish the Chattogram Heritage Corner at the temporary office of the Chattogram Zila Parishad on Saturday afternoon.
Chairman of the committee, distinguished social scientist Dr. Anupam Sen, and chaired by Chattogram Zila Parishad Chairman and Member Secretary ATM Pearul Islam, former Principal Secretary Abdul Karim, Vice-Chancellor of Chattogram University Dr. Shirin Akhtar, Director General of Bangla Academy Poet Nurul Huda, PHP Family Chairman Sufi Mizanur Rahman, National Book Center Director Miner Mansoor, Chattogram Medical College Principal Dr. Sahena Akhtar, TIC Chattogram Director Ahmed Iqbal Haider, Dr. Moinul Islam Mahmud, Dainik Purbokone City Editor Nowsher Ali Khan, Dr. Gnanaratna Mahather, Dr. Anwara Alam, Architect Ashiq Imran, Journalist Muhammad Shamsul Haque, Folk Music Researcher Nasir Uddin Haider, Zila Parishad Chief Executive Officer Shabbir Iqbal, Journalist Daisy Maudud, Artist Deepak Dutta, Advocate Ibrahim Hossain Chowdhury Babul, executive officer Didarul Alam were present.
In the speech of the President, Dr. Anupam Sen said, there is an opportunity to present Chattogram with global civilization. They will come to Chittagong and see their history here. Chattogram also has a history of thousands of years. This is a remarkable initiative.
Director General of Bangla Academy Kabi Nurul Huda said, proposing to name the heritage corner 'Chirantan Chattogram', not only Chattogram district. Chattogram region should be worked on. Three hill districts, Cox's Bazar are also recommended to be placed here.
Chattogram University (CU) Vice-Chancellor Dr. Shirin Akhtar said, We have already lost many traditions. Chattogram University has a rich museum. Today, Zila Parishad initiated a big forum to protect the historical heritage of Chattogram which is
really happy.
Chattogram Zila Parishad Chairman ATM Pearul Islam said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has witnessed unprecedented development in Chattogram. But we are in a different frenzy. Due to various reasons including mobile addiction, the new generation is forgetting the history and heritage of Chattogram. Mainly targeting them, he discussed this issue with social scientist Dr. Anupam Sen and took this initiative.
He wished for everyone's cooperation to make this initiative a success.
Chattogram Medical College (CMC) Principal Dr. Sahena Akhtar wants to have its touch everywhere including the gate, balcony of the 18th floor building.
Architect Ashiq Imran assured full cooperation in architectural design for the construction of Heritage Corner. In this regard, he suggested employing the students of architectural department at CUET and Premier University.
Zila Parishad Chief Executive Officer Shabbir Iqbal said Chattogram is unique from any other district in the country. Chattogram is the center of Bangladesh. This district has been prosperous for a long time. Efforts are being made to highlight that through the heritage corner.
