The executive magistrates in charge of the market monitoring team of the district administration have conducted raids in different parts of the city to keep the prices of goods stable during Ramadan.
These operations were conducted in Kazir Dewri, Riazuddin Bazar, Bahaddarhat and Khatunganj of the city from Saturday morning till noon.
Chattogram District Administration Executive Magistrate Masuma Jannat imposed a fine of Tk 28,000 in 11 cases in Kazir Deuri area of the city. In a raid led by Ashraful Alam in Riazuddin Bazar, Tk 20,000 was collected in 6 cases, Baddarhat Bazar Executive Magistrate Md. Masud Rana collected Tk 60,000 in 5 cases and in Khatunganj Executive Magistrate Md. Umar Faruq collected Tk 3,000 in 3 cases.
Executive Magistrate Umar Faruq said that some unscrupulous traders' syndicate increased the prices of daily necessities as soon as Ramadan came. Some traders have raised prices for extra profit, we have fined them.
