Ctg-Cox’s Bazar rail service to be launched by December: Minister

Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan said that the rail line project from Dohazari in Chattogram to Cox's Bazar and Padma Bridge via rail link road and from Dhaka to Jashore will be completed by June this year.

 He said that rail communication will be started on Chattogram-Cox's Bazar route by December this year.

 He told this to the reporters after the 42nd annual sports competition of Railway East Zone at Chattogram polo ground on Wednesday morning.

 Railway minister said that the project will be completed by June-July.  If everything goes well, the rail link with Cox's Bazar will be opened by December.  Besides, the minister said that the work of the Padma Bridge rail connection project will also be completed by June.

 He said that the design of Kalurghat bridge has been approved.  It is planned to build double line road and railway together.  The work is expected to be completed within three years.

 Athletes, officials, employees and well-wishers from different parts of the country come to this sports competition every year.  The polo ground was bustling with young and old athletes.

 Players will participate in many events.  This sports competition is organized every year to restore the lost heritage of railways in sports.

 Director General of Railways Kamrul Ahsan, President of Railway Sports Development Board Jahangir Hossain spoke on the occasion.

 Public Relations Officer of Railway Zone (East) Gurupada Mondal said, starting from the decoration of the field, all the preparations have already been completed.

 All sports persons of Bangladesh Railway East and West Zone and senior railway officials besides local public representatives were present on the occasion.
