View exchange meeting held between Ctg Chamber and visiting UK delegation

A view exchange meeting between the Board of Directors of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry and visiting 18-member delegation of UK Trade, Investment and Education Mission was held in Chattogram city on Tuesday. 

President of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mahbubul Alam presided over the meeting at Bangabandhu Conference Hall of the World Trade Center in the port city. 

The UK delegation leader Raja Ali, chamber director SM Abu Tayab, former Director Mahfuzul Haque Shah, director of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Mohammad Yasin, VC of 

East Delta University Prof. Sikandar Khan, Consul General of Japan Md. Nurul Islam, vice president of Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Abida Mostafa, former chairman of Chittagong Club Limited Mia Abdur Rahim, JF Bangladesh CEO AQI Chowdhury, Principal Ghazi Safia Rahman and Principal Dilruba Ahmed were present at the meeting, among others.  

Chamber directors Syed Jamal Ahmed, AKM Akhter Hossain, Md. Ahid Siraj Chowdhury (Swapan), Anjan Shekhar Das, Benazir Chowdhury Nisan, Sakif Ahmed Salam, Shahzada Mohammad Fouzul Alef, South Africa Honorary Consul Md. Solomon Alam Seth, Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vice President Dr. Munal Mahbub and Director Lutmila Farid, Prantik Group MD Engineer Golam Sarwar, BSRM Lead CSR Ruhi Murshid Ahmed and Sahabuddin Raj, William Carey Academy Director Paul Beatty were also present there. .

During the meeting, Chamber President Mahbubul Alam mentioned the context of deep and excellent business relations between Bangladesh and the UK. He emphasized on working closely in the coming days between the two cities, noting that Chittagong and Portsmouth have a hundred years of business history and traditional ties.

The President of the Chamber praised the development and prosperity of the UK's education, shipbuilding, plastics, shipping, catering, consultancy, maritime, tourism, IT, furniture, packaging, agriculture, fisheries sector, and British investment and investment in these sectors of Bangladesh. 

Mahbubul Alam sought the cooperation of the delegation in the formation of Bangladesh Center of Excellence proposed by the Chittagong Chamber.

Delegation leader Raja Ali said Bangladesh is becoming known today as the fastest growing Tiger economy in the world. He lauded the UK's entrepreneurial interest in business and investment, praising the country's current progress and growth. The delegation leader declared the port city of Chittagong a 'Sister City' of Portsmouth due to its positional similarity.

He also called for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chittagong Chamber for further bilateral relations. Mission Co-ordinator Mahbub Noor spoke in thanks. After the discussion, the delegation attended the meeting and visited the Permanent Exhibition Hall of the World Trade Center.
