Grassroots leaders of Chattogram division of Awami League on Sunday put ministers and lawmakers on dock, raising a series of allegation against MPs, ministers and influential leaders before the central leaders.

The allegations were raised during a views exchange meeting between AL central leaders and Chattogram division leaders at AL district office at Tajgaon in the capital.

Meeting sources said the grassroots alleged that the council session of Chandpur district has not been held for years.

They also held the local minister and a leader of the AL central committee responsible for the internal feud in the party.

The minister kept mum despite the allegation was raised in the meeting, sources said.

Being apprised of the internal feud, the central leaders directed the Chandpur grassroots to hold the council session immediately to end the crisis.

In the meeting, highlighting various problems centring the Upazila Parishad polls, Cumilla grassroots leaders urged the central leaders to nominate a single candidate to reduce internal conflict.

They told the meeting that internal conflict is brewing up as the party has decided not to field any candidate in the UZ polls.

The issue of the expulsion of Cumilla district unit organising secretary and Cumilla-4 constituency Abul Kalam Azad was also discussed.

Organising Secretary Abu Sayeed Al Mahmood Swapan, also in charge of Chattogram Division, told the meeting that the Cumilla district unit can no way expel Abul Kalam Azad rather the unit may only make recommendations.

The central AL has already served a show-cause notice to Azad and he (Azad) already gave the reply. Under the circumstances, the central body of the AL will take action against him or he will be relieved if he is proved innocent.

Over the council session of Chattogram, the grassroots of Chattogram sought some more time for holding the council session.

Selima alleged that the followers of incumbent MP assaulted her activists and no work can be down without giving money to the followers of the incumbent MP.

Ruling out the allegation of extortion, the independent lawmaker said although some sporadic incidents took place after the polls, now the situation is clam and quite.

The relation with former MP Yusuf Abdullah Harun with Cumilla-3 constituency lawmaker Jahangir Alam Sarker widened.

The same situation prevails on Debiddar over the toxic relation between incumbent independent lawmaker Abul Kalam Azad and former MP Raji Mohammad Fahrul.

Cumilla-6 constituency lawmaker AKM Bahauddin maintains a cold relation relations with former reserved seat lawmaker Anjum Sultana.

The same situation is prevailing on Noakhali, Luxmipur, Cox’s Bazar and Chattogram.
