The Ministry of Local Government has approved the expansion project of ‘Chittagong Airport Road’ for a cost of Tk 2,500 crore. CCC Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin requested for the project while Chittagong Port Authority has given a special discount on the price of the land. CCC acquired the land saving Tk 1200 crore.
The 4.5 kilometre expansion project of the two-lane road was approved by the ministry on Sunday and is expected to be completed by 2024. CCC officials said a number of road development projects in 41 wards of the city is connected to this expansion project of Airport road.
Although the project had a cost of Tk 3,000 crore when it was submitted, the ministry approved a cost of 2,500 crore for the project. CCC have already completed all the tasks, including appointing consultants in advance.
