Ctg admn drive against illegal online IPTV

Four online TV including C-Plus, C-Vision have been shut down in Chattogram in an operation against illegal and unregistered online IP TV and a company called 24TV that is trading adulterated 

goods by opening offices of 

online TV.

Illegal IP TV, online news portal, online TV business including portal blogs have been developed in different places of Chittagong city for some time. 

Chattogram District Admi­nistra­tion has launched an operation against these fake online news media that have been created in violation of the National Online Media Policy-2017 (revised in 2020) and in violation of the National Broa­dcasting Policy-2014.

Chattogram District Admi­nistration Executive Magistrate Ehsan Murad and Himadri Khisa led the campaign. 

The operation was conducted from 12:30 pm to 5:30 pm on Sunday.

According to the instructions of the TV-2 branch of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the district administration conducted the operation in Chattogram.

The operations raided the offices of several illegal online TV channels including CPlus TV, CVision, Daily Orthonity, 24TV, SBTV.  All these online TV have no registration.  It has been broadcasting information and content in violation of National Broadcasting Policy-2014 for a long time.

The Censorship of Film Act,1963 in respect of online channels/TV, portals-blogs data, content dissemination, publishing and broadcasting);  ICT Act, 2006;  Bangladesh Teleco­mmunication Act-2001;  Copyright, Trade­marks, Patents and Designs have been violating the relevant laws and regulations of the country.

Unregistered IPTV and YouTube channels, social media Facebook are accused of spreading news trickery.  

The activities of these institutions have already been stopped.

 The operation of the metropolis and upazila will continue to stop illegal and unregistered online TV-channels in Chattogram district.

Its mentioned that a large quantity of adulterated spices, adulterated edible oil, adulterated hair oil, adulterated honey were found during raids at the office of unauthorized 24-TV.  Regular legal case will be filed against 24-TV by BSTI.  Magistrate Himadri Khisa conducted the operation against 24-TV.
