Crushing season begins in Mobarakganj Sugar Mills

The lone state-owned sugar mills of Bangladesh sugar and food industries corporation in Jhenaidah in south-western part of the country, Mobarakganj Sugar Mills Limited started crushing season with keeping two thousand tones of sugar for an amount of Taka 20 crore in its stores.

MP from Jhenaidah-4 constituency Anwarul Azim Anar inaugurated the crushing season for 2020-2021 as the chief guest in a simple ceremony at the mills putting sugarcane in the crushing hole on Friday. A doa mahfil was arranged following the inaugural session.

Sugar mills managing director (MD) Anwar Kabir, GM administration Anwar Hossain, GM finance Alamgir Hosain, GM factory Alamgir Hosain, Mobarakganj sugar mills limited workrs union president Golam Rasul, union parishad chairmen Ali Hossain Apu and Mahidul Islam Mantu, sugarcane welfare association of the mills zone Jahurul Islam and farmer Shahjahan Ali Sheikh among others were present during the time.

The mills sources said the mills had taken target to produce 10,400 tones of sugar crushing 81,350 tones of sugar in 126 crushing days on 54th crushing season. About 2,000 tones of sugar produced in past two seasons, for an amount of Taka 20 crore was lying unsold in the mills stores.
