The Centre for Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) inaugurated its divisional center in Barishal with the name CRP-Barishal, CARSA Foundation at the SEKNAK Welfare Trust building, on Monday to provide standard treatment and rehabilitation for the people with disabilities.
The newly built three-storied center will allow people to avail services on physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and pediatric clinic. Besides, the Prosthetics and Orthotics service with the support of the ICRC, third of its kind in the country, will provide artificial limbs and supportive devices to the vulnerable people with disabilities of Barishal.
This service will further help people who need it to regain their mobility and functionality so that they can lead a life in dignity and play an active role in the society.
Mayor of Barishal City Corporation Serniabat Sadik Abdullah inaugurated the center. Japanese Ambassador in Dhaka Ito Naoki, Head of Delegation of International Committee for the Red Cross (ICRC) Pierre Dorbes, CRP’s Founder Valerie Ann Taylor, Divisional Commissioner of Barishal Mohammad Yamin Chowdhury, and District Commissioner of Barishal S. M. Ajior Rahman attended the event as special guests.
CRP started its services in a rented property in Barishal Division in 2013. CARSA Foundation donated a piece of 68.5 decimal land in 2017. Later with the help of Japan Embassy, CRP built the ground floor and afterwards the Syed Enayet Kabir and Nayer Ara Kabir (SEKNAK) Welfare Trust came forward to support the construction of first and second floor of the building.
