A political crisis within the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in Comilla-6 constituency was resolved emotionally after aspiring candidate Haji Aminur Rashid Yassin broke down in tears, urging his thousands of supporters to end their protests.

The unrest began after the BNP's high command nominated former MP Monirul Haque Chowdhury for the seat, bypassing Yassin, a popular local leader known for his dedication to the party workers.

The decision sparked immediate and sustained demonstrations from Yassin's supporters, who blocked roads and held protest rallies for days, demanding his nomination.

The situation escalated until Acting BNP Chairman Tariq Rahman sent a letter to Yassin, asking him to halt the protests "for the sake of the Sheaf of Paddy" symbol and promising his grievances would be reviewed.

Upon receiving the letter, Yassin was overcome with emotion and broke down in front of his supporters. Witnessing their leader's distress, his followers also wept, with many declaring they would quit politics.

Following this emotional scene, Haji Aminur Rashid Yassin formally issued a statement on November 14, instructing his supporters to remain peaceful and end all agitation.
