Various gangs involved in fake currency trade, mugging, hijacking and toll collection have become very active ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr across the country.

Criminals produce and circulate fake currency across the country to cash the large-scale cash transaction in different markets, shopping malls, business centres and other crowded places like bus and launch terminals and railway stations.

Besides, generally, ahead of Eid and its post period, the miscreants like agyan party and the malom party also become active and it results in the loss of money and luggage of the passengers.

The thugs rob their targeted people after doping them with drug-tainted food or putting irritating balm in their eyes while they travel the streets and high ways in capital Dhaka, other metropolitan cities and district towns across the country.

With the increase of Eid shoppers at various shopping malls and banks, snatchers have also become active everywhere including capital Dhaka, creating a sense of insecurity among residents.

The entire country

should be brought under

stringent security measures

Apart from this, extortionists in the all cities including capital Dhaka are pressing hard on small businesses, especially traders. From every seller across the cities, towns and even remote areas, they have already started collecting tolls daily, and the pressure has increased ahead of Eid festivities. Also, the drivers and traders have to pay the extortionists a pre-determined amount.

The authorities concerned will have to take necessary measures including stepping up intelligence surveillance across the country to prevent these crimes at any cost. Intelligence vigilance coinciding with crackdowns will also have to be strengthened across the country to this end immediately.

The law enforcers will have to collect information relating to the crimes of fake currency trade, mugging, hijacking and toll collection.

To prevent such crimes this Eid, the law enforcers will also have to patrol the cities, towns and highways regularly to provide security to passengers, shoppers as well as city residents.

Police administration should start distributing leaflets and stickers inscribed with different advices to the passengers and the drivers across the country to avert any untoward incidents.

The entire country should be brought under stringent security measure, including the capital city, with deployment of Rapid Action Battalion and police for peaceful and smooth travelling of people ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.
