The Bangladesh national cricket team, fresh from their series victory against Pakistan, met with the interim government's Chief Adviser, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. Nazmul Hossain Shanto and his team visited the Chief Adviser's office on Thursday afternoon.
This was the first meet-up between the national team cricketers and the chief adviser. Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan was also present, along with the new BCB President Faruque Ahmed, Director Nazmul Abedin Fahim, and CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury Sujon.
"I spoke to the skipper after the victory but I was enthusiastically waiting to see you all personally and congratulate you on behalf of the nation," said the Chief Adviser while addressing the players.
It was announced on the day of their historic series win against Pakistan that the Bangladesh cricket team would meet with Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus upon their return. After arriving back in the country, the Tigers have been busy preparing for the upcoming series against India. Amidst their training, Dr. Yunus took the time to meet with the cricketers today.
A few days ago, the nation's cricket witnessed an unforgettable moment on Pakistani soil. The red and green team won a two-match series against Pakistan, a team they had never defeated in the Test format. This series marked Bangladesh's first Test match victory against Pakistan in 24 years since achieving Test status. Following a massive 10-wicket win in the first Test, they secured an outstanding 6-wicket victory in the second Test.
Immediately after the victory, Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus called the national cricket team captain, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, to congratulate him and the team on their historic Test series win against Pakistan. Bangladesh will now depart for India on Sunday for a two-match Test series followed by three T20Is. The tour will begin with the first Test, starting on September 19.
