Cox’s Bazar to be known thru’ sports, tourism

State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell said Cox's Bazar would be re-introduced to the world through sports and tourism. The present government has taken several steps for that. Apart from football and cricket in the tourist city of Cox's Bazar, various sports will be organized to entertain the tourists. 

A new football stadium is being established next to Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium. Moreover, renovation of Birshreshtha Ruhul Amin Stadium, construction of indoor stadium, construction of BKSP and other projects have been undertaken, he added.

The state minister made the remarks while addressing the foundation laying ceremony of further development of Indore Stadium and further development of Birshreshtha Ruhul Amin Stadium in Cox's Bazar on Wednesday afternoon.

Cox's Bazar Sadar-Ramu constituency MP Saimum Sarwar Kamal, Youth and Sports Ministry Secretary Akhter Hossain, National Sports Council Secretary Masud Karim, Cox's Bazar District Sports Association were among the special guests at the inaugural meeting held at Cox's Bazar Additional Deputy Commissioner Amin Al at Birshreshtha Ruhul Amin Stadium. 

Principal Jasim Uddin, Vice-President Anup Barua Apu, Vice-President Afsar Uddin, General Secretary of Cox's Bazar District Sports Association Jasim Uddin, President of Cox's Bazar Football Association and Chairman of Chakaria Upazila Parishad Fazlul Karim Sayedee, Additional General Secretary Mahmudul Karim, Joint Secretary Helal Uddin Kabir , Rashed Hossain Nannu, President of Sports Writers Association Mahbubur Rahman and others.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports is working on the development of Birshreshtha Ruhul Amin Stadium and the construction of an indoor stadium at a cost of around Tk 21 crore.

At the end of the ceremony, the Minister laid the foundation stone of the indoor stadium.
