Cox’s Bazar returns to normal after Mocha passes

Cyclone Mocha crossed Bangladesh's Teknaf coast and moved into Myanmar. But red flags are still being displayed on Cox's Bazar beach as a warning signal. There are no tourists in the district as of now. There are also huge waves which can be seen from the beach. Even if there is no warning signal issued from the concerned authorities, the sea is rough. Tourism and beach-centric businesses are gearing up for tourists.

The 10th level danger signal has been issued over the Cox's Bazar due to the cyclone. The cyclone crossed the Teknaf coast and is crossing Myanmar. Tourists could not enter the sea for several days as the sea was rough due to this cyclone. Then, before the cyclone, the tourists who came to see the cyclone also left Cox's Bazar after the tourist-centric services were stopped by declaring the beach prohibited for tourists.

As a result, Cox's Bazar beach was empty of tourists. After the cyclone, everything is normal now, but the sea is still rough. Beaches like Sugandha, Labani, Kalatali and Seagull Point can be seen on Monday mornings and afternoons, with no outside tourists. Locals came to see the condition of the beach. At this time, it can be seen that various tourist services are being arranged around the beach. Kamal Hossain, Faridul Alam, Mosharraf Hossain said, there was no business for two days. They were setting up the chairs due to the lack of warning signs on Monday afternoon.

Nurul Alam, a traveling photographer of the beach, said, I was in a lot of trouble with my family as photography was stopped. Everything is slowly getting back to normal from Monday. However, no foreign tourists are seen yet. Locals come to the beach but don't take pictures with us.

Rahim Ullah, a Sea Safe lifeguard worker, said the beach has been opened to tourists since today but the sea is still rough. As a result, we are warning tourists with red flags at three points on the beach. So the red flag is rising on the beach. Now tourists will not be able to enter the sea.

Talk to Rafiqul Islam from the local bahar rhyme at Sugandha Point on the beach. He said, I came to visit today with my family. Since there are no tourists outside, we are walking around by ourselves.

Abdur Rahman, assistant meteorologist of Cox's Bazar Meteorological Office, said that there is no warning signal for Cox's Bazar sea port. Seas are a bit rough but will become more normal after the rain on Tuesday.

Abul Kashem Shikder, president of Cox's Bazar Hotel Guest House Owners Association, said there were some tourists even during the cyclone. But it is very less in quantity.

Those who came here with the interest of seeing the cyclone.

However, on Monday afternoon, no tourists from outside Cox's Bazar were seen on the beach. There were quite a few. Deputy Commissioner of Cox's Bazar Md. Shaheen Imran said, due to the cyclone, we have temporarily stopped tourists from going to the beach. The warning has been lifted since Monday.
