An anti-drug and anti-terrorism discussion was held at Ahana Convention Hall in Cox's Bazar on Thursday evening at the initiative of 10th beat police team under Moheskhali Municipality.
Cox's Bazar Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Hasanuzzaman said that police is working as friends of the people.
Therefore, they should cooperate with the good people of the society, against terrorism and criminals.
Only then will the law and order situation in the area would remain normal.
The SP urged everyone to boycott the criminals to restore order in the society.
Local MP Ashek Ullah Rafique, who was the chief guest at the event, said that terrorists do not belong to any party, so terrorists will be treated as terrorists. If someone commits a crime, he or she will not be spared.
Maheshkhali Police Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Abdul Hai presided over the meeting while, Maheshkhali Circle ASP Jahedul Islam. Maheshkhali UNO Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Maheshkhali Municipal Mayor Md. Maqsood Mia, Maheshkhali Upazila AL President Alhaj Md. Anwar Pasha Chowdhury and others attended.
The meeting was attended by all UP chairmen and members of Maheshkhali Upazila, teachers of schools and madrasas, imams of different mosques, local people's representatives, political leaders, freedom fighters, journalists and a significant number of women.
SP Md. Hasanuzzaman added that beat policing is an effective and tested measure to provide police services to the people at the earliest and to curb crime immediately. Beat police officers will spend most of their time in designated areas as well as patrolling crime-prone areas. Collect information about the source of the crime and arrest the culprit. They will stand by people in times of danger and provide them assistance.
The SP assured that no one involved in drug dealing and narcotics would be exempted. He warned that no matter how deep the roots of drug traffickers are, they will be uprooted.
