Mukti Cox’s Bazar participated in a two-day product fair in Cox’s Bazar showcasing the creativity, traditions and livelihood initiatives of local and Rohingya communities.
The fair was organised by the Livelihoods and Skills Development Sector at Long Beach Hotel in Cox’s Bazar. Various handicrafts, creative works and livelihood-based initiatives produced by local and Rohingya communities were displayed at the fair.
Mukti Cox’s Bazar expressed gratitude to those involved in organising the fair for creating opportunities for sustainable livelihoods alongside cultural expression. It particularly thanked Sector Coordinator Ashik Kabir.
During a visit to the fair, Mukti Cox’s Bazar Executive Committee President Prof Ajit Kumar Das said, “The handicrafts displayed at the fair have effectively demonstrated the impact of our livelihood projects on the development of local and Rohingya communities amid the challenging refugee crisis.”
Mukti Cox’s Bazar Chief Executive Bimal Chandra Dey Sarker said, “This fair is not only an opportunity to display products but also an important platform for exchanging knowledge and experience. Creating opportunities to preserve, practise and celebrate culture will play an important role in strengthening social connections, dignity, resilience and mental wellbeing among displaced communities.”
He added, “We sincerely thank the Livelihoods and Skills Development Sector for highlighting the skills and creativity of women from local and Rohingya communities.”
The two-day fair also highlighted the skills, creativity, livelihood initiatives and cultural diversity of women from the two communities. #EK
