Cox’s Bazar connecting to country’s other parts by air: Minister

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Mohammad Mahbub Ali MP said the tourist city Cox's Bazar is being connected to different parts of the country by air. As part of this, direct flights have been launched on the Saidpur-Cox’s Bazar route on Thursday. 

The state minister was speaking at a press conference at Hotel Shaibal in Cox's Bazar on the occasion of launching direct flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines on Saidpur-Cox’s Bazar-Saidpur route. 

Earlier, State Minister for Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali MP presided over the inaugural function of Biman direct flight on Saidpur-Cox’s Bazar route at Saidpur Airport. Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan and Asaduzzaman Nur were present as chief guests. Chairman of the Board of Directors of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Sajjad Hossain, Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Md. Mokammel Hossain and Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Dr. Md. Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal was also present on the occasion.

He added that with the launch of direct flights on the Saidpur-Cox’s Bazar-Saidpur route, tourists from North Bengal will be able to come directly to Cox’s Bazar and people from Cox's Bazar will also be able to travel there easily to see the sights of North Bengal. Passengers will receive this service by traveling in the modern and youthful fleet of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

The state minister said, “Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman loved Cox’s Bazar. In its continuation, Prime Minister has paid special attention to the development of Cox’s Bazar. She has undertaken various development projects to highlight Cox’s Bazar including deep sea port at Matarbari, thermal power plant, upgrading Cox’s Bazar airport to international airport, construction of naval submarine station, construction of Marine Drive road, establishment of four economic zones, establishment of three tourist parks and a special tourist zone. In order to expand tourism, tourism related development projects will also be undertaken in Sonadia and Kutubdia Islands in future.”

Biman Bangladesh Airlines will operate direct flights from Saidpur to Cox’s Bazar every Thursday at 9:20 am and every Saturday from Cox’s Bazar to Saidpur at 1:25 pm.
