Cox’s Bazar beach witnesses biggest idol immersion ceremony

The largest idol-immersion ceremony in the country took place at Cox's Bazar Beach on Sunday amidst the presence of thousands of devotees and tourists. The event attracted a massive number of visitors, especially due to the government holiday. 

Special security measures were taken for this occasion and the grand immersion ceremony concluded peacefully, with 245 idols being submerged into the sea.

Sunday marked the last day of the government-declared holiday for Durga Puja, and on this day, the largest immersion ceremony in the country took place at Cox's Bazar Beach. Thousands of devotees, worshippers, and local and foreign tourists had gathered at the beach in anticipation of the event. The ceremony was organized by the Cox's Bazar District Puja Udajapon Committee at the Laboni Point of the beach.

Starting from 3 PM, the idols gradually arrived at Laboni Point. By 4 PM, the beach from Laboni to Sugandha Point was packed with people. 

Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin attended the event as the chief guest. Superintendent of Police Mohammad Rahmatullah, former MP and BNP's Fisheries Affairs Secretary Lutfor Rahman Kajol, Tourist Superintendent of Police Al Asad Mohammad Mahfuzul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner Yamin Hossain, Cox's Bazar District BNP general secretary Advocate Shamim Ara Sapna, former Mayor Sarwar Kamal, AB Party central leader Jahangir Kasem, Cox's Bazar District Puja Udjapon Committee president Uday Shankar Pal Mithu, acting general secretary Dipak Sharma Dipu and many others were present at that time.

Feroz Mahmud, a tourist from Nilphamari, shared his excitement, saying, visiting Cox's Bazar and witnessing the country's largest idol immersion was a bonus for me and my family. Alongside the Hindu devotees, members of the Rakhine community were also present at the ceremony.

According to Dipak Sharma Dipu, acting general secretary of the Cox's Bazar District Puja Udjapon Committee, 245 idols from 49 Puja Mandaps were immersed at Laboni Point. He expressed his gratitude to everyone for helping to make the immersion process smooth and peaceful.

Superintendent of Police Mohammad Rahmatullah said that a coordinated effort by the Tourist Police, Cox's Bazar District Police, the Army and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) ensured the event's success. Al Asad Mohammad Mahfuzul Islam, Superintendent of the Tourist Police in Cox's Bazar, said that they had been working for several days to ensure the safety of both the Hindu devotees and the tourists.

Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin expressed his gratitude to the local residents, acknowledging their crucial role in making the largest immersion event in the country a success. People of all faiths and communities came together to celebrate and assist in the event.
