Cows distributed among backward small ethnic groups

Crossbreed Bakna cows were distributed among 42 families in Gazipur Sadar Upazila under the government's integrated livestock development project to improve the socio-economic quality of life for backward minority ethnic groups living on flat land at Gazipur Sadar Upazila Livestock Office premises on Sunday noon.

Gazipur Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Adv. Reena Parveen was the chief guest at the distribution programme while Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Md. Selim Ullah presided over. Gazipur Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Abdullah Al Zaki and project director Asim Kumar Das were special guests on the occasion. Beneficiaries, journalists and government officials of the backward small ethnic groups of the plains were present at the time. Later, Bakna cows, food and house building materials were distributed among 42 beneficiaries. 

Sukhi Rani, a successful resident of Sitpara area undee Gazipur Sadar Upazila, said, “I am veryhappy that the Prime Minister has given us a 'cow' as gift”.
