Oxford’s Covid-19 vaccine had taken the world by storm when it was invented. Now everyone who is part of a sovereign nation is waiting for the vaccine to arrive to their country. This is something that has been the concern for Bangladeshis as well. But it is encouraging to know that there is no such concern regarding delay as Bangladesh will get the vaccine when all other countries get access to it.
According to a report published in this daily, the government has confirmed that there is no uncertainty over the vaccine. Bangladesh will get Oxford’s Covid-19 vaccine from the Serum Institute of India in time. The coronavirus pandemic has caused such a high death toll that it is imperative for the world to get access to the vaccines as soon as possible. To this end, we hope that the international community will work together to provide the vaccines for all citizens of the world.

Since Oxford/AstraZeneca is the only vaccine developer so far to have a deal with the global COVAX facility, most of the world’s low- and middle-income countries will rely on them for the supply of the vaccine. We implore the authorities concerned to hasten the procedure of production and distribution of the vaccines.
Despite there being issues regarding the condition that Serum does not want the vaccines to get exported to other countries before the vulnerable in India are given the doses, Beximco will get the vaccines for Bangladesh. However, Bangladesh will get the vaccine in due time, so has been assured. It remains to be seen whether this is fulfilled.
Above all, we hope that the country’s citizens get the much needed covid vaccine within due time. We applaud the frontliners and researchers who have toiled to find the vaccine of this dreaded pandemic.
