Covid situation improves

The overall coronavirus situation of Bangladesh has improved further as the country registered only five deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Monday. The total number of deaths has reached to 27,828 with the latest figure.

The country recorded 289 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,567,981, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday.

The death rate now stands at 1.77 percent in the country, added the release.

The current positivity rate stands at 1.39 while the overall positivity rate stands at 15.31 percent.

Among the five deceased, two were men, and three were women. Of the deceased, two each were from Dhaka and one was from Khulna.

A total of 20,773 samples were tested across the country till 8am Monday. 

Some 413 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,531,740 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 97.69 percent.

As of Monday 4,966,180 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 244,539,045 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
