Covid recovery rate crosses 95pc in Rangpur division

The average recovery rate of coronavirus (COVID-19) infected patients rose to 95.05 percent in Rangpur division where infection rate continues declining during the last six consecutive weeks, reports BSS. 

“A total of 14,933 coronavirus patients out total 15,710 have healed so far at the average recovery rate of 95.05 percent in the division,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS on Thursday.

Since the beginning, a total of 1,01,529 collected samples of Rangpur division were tested till Wednesday, and of them, 15,710 were found COVID-19 positive with an average infection rate of 15.47 percent.

Meanwhile, eight more coronavirus infected patients recovered on Wednesday raising their total number to 14,933 in the division.

patients include 3,610 of Rangpur, 751 of Panchagarh, 1,292 of Nilphamari, 945 of Lalmonirhat, 970 of Kurigram, 1,425 of Thakurgaon, 4,4518 of Dinajpur and 1,422 of Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddique said.

On the other hand, only three new COVID-19 positive cases were reported after testing 172 collected samples with the daily infection rate of 1.74 percent on Wednesday raising the total number of patients to 15,710 in the division.

“The district-wise break up of the total 15,710 patients stands at 4,007 in Rangpur, 784 in Panchagarh, 1,323 in Nilphamari, 962 in Lalmonirhat, 1,009 in Kurigram, 1,503 in Thakurgaon, 4,665 in Dinajpur and 1,457 in Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui said.

Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md. Ahad Ali said the daily COVID-19 infection rate remained below 10 percent amid increasing recovery rate during the last six weeks in Rangpur division.

The daily COVID-19 infection rates were 4.89 on Tuesday, 1.59 percent on Monday, 5.26 percent on Sunday, 4.26 percent on Saturday, 4.21 percent on Friday, 7.30 percent on Thursday and 4.97 percent on Wednesday last in the division.

“The number of fatalities remained steady at 303 with no more deaths reported from anywhere in the division on Wednesday,” he said.

The district-wise break up of the 303 fatalities stands at 71 in Rangpur, 109 in Dinajpur, 33 in Thakurgaon, 27 in Nilphamari, 15 in Kurigram, 20 in Panchagarh, 17 in Gaibandha and 11 in Lalmonirhat districts of the division,” he said.

The average casualty rate currently stands at 1.93 percent in the division.

“Among the total 15,710 COVID-19 infected patients, 31 are undergoing treatments at isolation units after recovery of 14,933 patients and 303 deaths while 443 remaining in home isolations across the division,” Dr. Ali added.
