In the last one week, the Covid-19 situation in the country has been improving, said Professor Mohammad Nazmul Islam, Director, Infectious Disease Control, Directorate General of Health Services.

He made the remarks while addressing a virtual event of launching a health bulletin organized by the Department of Health on Sunday about the Covid-19 situation.

He said, “The infection rate on February 6 was 21.50 percent. At the end of the week, on February 12, the rate stood at 16.50 percent. At the same time, the number of new patients detected last week was 8,345, which dropped to 5,023 on February 12.”

Professor Mohammad Nazmul Islam said that the Amar Ekushey Book Fair is starting on 15th February. Those who will be organising the fair, the publishers who are participating, the employees who will be working in the stalls and those who are planning to go to the fair will all have to be vaccinated as per the requirement.

Those who have received the vaccine will carry their printed or digital certificate with them and will come to the book fair following the hygiene rules.

He further said that although the educational institutions are closed now, they will hopefully be reopened by the end of this month. It is the responsibility of the concerned authorities of the educational institutions to make the students aware and make sure they follow all the health safety protocols.
