Bangladesh registered 39 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Saturday. The total number of deaths stands at 13,071 now with the latest figure.
The country recorded 1,637 new cases of coronavirus taking the total number of infected people to 824,486 according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday. The death rate is now 1.59 percent, the release added.
The number of fatalities and new infections has declined compared to a day earlier. The country recorded 43 deaths and 2,454 infections on Friday. The current positivity rate stands at 14.12 percent and the total positivity rate stands at 13.39 percent.
Among the 39 deceased, 26 were men, and 13 were women. 36 of the patients died in different hospitals across the country and three died at home.
11 of the deceased were from the Khulna division, 10 from Dhaka, seven from Rajshahi, six from Chattogram, two each from Rangpur and Barisal, and one from Sylhet division.
A total of 11,590 samples were tested across the country till 8am Saturday.
During this period 2,108 Covid-19 patients have recovered. A total of 764,024 people have recovered from the virus until now. The recovery rate stands at 92.67 percent.
As of Saturday, 3,801,569 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 176,076,907 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
