Covid deaths nil for 3 consecutive days

Bangladesh registered no death from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am Saturday. There is zero death from the virus in the country for three days in a row. The total number of deaths remains at 29,118.

The country recorded 65 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,951,239, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday.

In the 24 hours, current positivity rate stands at 0.89pc. Overall the rate stands at 14.16.

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.49 percent in the country, added the release.

Experts believe that the relentless vaccination campaigns conducted at regular intervals played a huge role in bringing down the impact of the deadly virus.

According to them, the country has reached a systematic result due to the efforts of all in tackling the deadly virus.

A total of 7,336 samples were tested across the country till 8am Saturday. 

Some 983 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,877,131 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 96.20 percent.

As of Saturday, 6,143,985 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 480,147,732 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
