Covid death nil for 2nd consecutive day

Bangladesh registered no deaths in 24 hours for the second consecutive day till 8am Wednesday. The total number of deaths remained unchanged at 29,112.

A total of 182 people were newly infected during this time and the total number of people infected rose to 1,950,124, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday.

The current positivity dropped to 1.38 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 14.26 percent.

Earlier on Tuesday, no death was reported and 217 people contracted the virus. 

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.49 percent in the country, added the release.

A total of 13,179 samples were tested across the country till 8am Wednesday.

Experts believe that the relentless vaccination campaigns conducted at regular intervals played a huge role in bringing down the impact of the deadly virus.

Some 1,192 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,865,600 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 95.56 percent.

As of Wednesday, 6,075,377 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 462,285,189 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
