Bangladesh registered 114 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Tuesday, taking the total number of deaths to 25,513.
The country recorded 5,249 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 14, 72,964, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday.
According to the notification, 8,907 people have recovered from the virus during this time. So far, a total of 13, 7163 people have recovered.
The current positivity rate stands at 15.12 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 16.89 percent.
Among the 114 deceased, 56 were men, and 58 were women. Of the victims, 3 died at home and the rest died in different hospitals across the country. Samples were collected from 34,229 people till Tuesday morning. 34 thousand 708 have been tested. The detection rate dropped to 15.12 percent compared to the sample test. A total of 87, 21,014 samples have been tested in the country so far. Compared to the total test, the detection rate is 16.89 percent.
It also said that the highest number of deaths during these 24 hours was 42 in Dhaka division. 29 people died in Chittagong, 6 in Rajshahi, 13 in Khulna, 5 in Barisal, 9 in Sylhet, 6 in Rangpur and 4 in Mymensingh.
