Covid claims 5 more lives in 24 hrs

Bangladesh registered five more deaths from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am Tuesday. The total number of deaths has reached to 28,010 with the latest figure.

The country recorded 291 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,578,001, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday.

The current positivity rate stands 1.45 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 14.32 percent.

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.78 percent in the country, added the release. Among the deaths reported, four were male and one was female.

A total of 20,014 samples were tested across the country till 8am Tuesday. 

Some 308 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,542,908 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 97.78 percent.

As of Tuesday, 5,281,541people died of Covid-19 across the world and 266,879,038 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
