Covid claims 5 lives in 24 hrs

Bangladesh registered five deaths from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am Saturday. The total number of deaths rose to 28,022 with one addition to the latest figure.

The country recorded 177 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,578,996, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday. 

The current positivity rate stands at 1.13 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 14.23 percent.

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.77 percent in the country. All the five deceased were women. Of them, one was between 31-40 years old, one between 41-50, one between 51-60 and two were above 60 years old, added the release.

Around 15,632 samples were tested across the country till 8am Saturday. 

Some 122 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,543,826 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 97.78 percent.

As of Saturday, 5,315,021 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 269,569,491 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
