Bangladesh registered four more deaths from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am Sunday. This takes the total number of deaths to 27,922. The current positivity rate stands at 1.14pc.
Although the daily deaths have seen minor fluctuations, the overall number of cases remains significantly low.
According to experts, the Covid-19 situation in a country can be claimed to be under control if the infection rate remains under 5pc for two weeks. Bangladesh has successfully achieved that feat over a month ago.
The country recorded 223 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,572,501, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday.
The death rate now stands at 1.78 pc in the country, as per the press release. Around 19,517 samples were tested during this time.
Of the four deceased, one was male and three were female. Three of them died in Dhaka division, and one in Chattogram division.
Around 212 people recovered from the virus during the time. Up until now, a total of 1,536,515 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 97.71 pc.
As of Sunday, 5,113,268 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 253,797,421 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
