Covid claims 21 lives in 24hrs

Bangladesh registered 21 more deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Saturday. The total number of deaths has reached to 28,329 with the latest figure.

The country recorded 10,378 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,773,149, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday.

The current positivity rate stands 31.10 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 14.31 percent.

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.60 percent in the country, added the release.

Among the 21 deceased, 14 were males and seven were females. Of them, 12 were from Dhaka, two each from Khulna, Chattogram and Rangpur and one each from Barisal, Rajshahi and Mymensingh division. 

A total of 33,373 samples were tested across the country till 8am Saturday. 

Some 1,109 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,563,478 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 88.18 percent.

As of Saturday, 5,669,871 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 371,024,198 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
