The number of patients suffering from Covid-19 infection is increasing in Kishoreganj. Although the administration is alert in the severe lockdown, the rate of infection is not decreasing in any way. The total number of patients infected with Covid-19 in the last 5 days is 496 and the number of deaths is 03. Many people show signs that they are infected but they are not interested in the Covid-19 test. Many people are busy buying fever medicine and cough syrup in pharmacies. Conscious people worried about how to reduce the number of patients affected by corona.
It is learned that 3 medical colleges, 12 upazila health complexes and one 250-bed General Hospital are providing services to corona patients in the district. There are 125 patients in the 150 beds of the corona unit of Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital in the district. In the last 5 days, 496 people have been identified in the district. Of these, 325 are in the Sadar Upazila. At present the number of coronavirus patients in the district is 1,024. Of these, 75 are in hospital and 949 are in home isolation. At present, there is no patient suffering from corona in Ashtagram upazila of the district.
Meanwhile, the administration is in a tough position to reduce the rate of corona infection in Kishoreganj. They are wary of implementing the seven-day strict lockdown announced by the government. Police have taken a firm stand throughout the district. Policemen are working at every corner of the road.
It can be seen on the ground that the roads and ghats have been empty since the 1st day of the severe lockdown. Besides the police, there are army, BGB and RAB in the field. No one is leaving the house without urgent work. There is no public transport on the road. Some rickshaws and motorcycles are moving. Many have been seen walking to the office with their identity cards. Shops, vehicles, offices and courts are closed. Although the limited size food hotel was supposed to be open subject to conditions, not much was noticed.
Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College and Hospital Resident Surgeon Dr. Md Abidur Rahman Bhuiyan said that in the last few days, a total of 30 people including 2 doctors, 25 nurses and 3 employees of the hospital have been infected with corona. The medical service is under threat.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Shamim Alam said, all the restrictions imposed in Kishoreganj district are being implemented to reduce the rise in corona infection. Members of the law enforcement and executive magistrates have been active since 1st day of lockdown. Police, army, BGB, RAB and Ansar have been deployed in the entire district. We will all collectively implement this strict lockdown. We have also set up a coordination cell headed by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General). I urge the people to cooperate with us by following these instructions and following the strict lockdown.
Police Super Mashrukur Rahman Khaled BPM (Bar) said 53 check posts have been set up to reduce the rate of corona infection. Of these, 20 check posts have been set up in Sadar upazila. If someone leaves the house without a reason and disobeys the restrictions, they will face severe legal trouble. This time rickshaws can be used but no engine driven vehicles can be used. If so, legal action will be taken. Besides, there will be a magistrate in the field.
Police Super said no vehicles would be allowed to run outside what the government meant by emergency services. However, he said that if there is a need for emergency services including daily necessities, he can take them.
He also said that strict instructions have already been given to every police station and police outpost in the district.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Mujibur Rahman said, we have not created any major crisis so far. We are constantly monitoring any possible crisis. We are doing what we need to do to reduce the rate of infection.
