Covid cases hit 73,160 with 1,146 deaths in Rajshahi divn

A total of 589 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in six districts in the division on Friday, taking the caseload to 73,160 while 1,146 fatalities were recorded in Rajshahi so far since the pandemic began across the country, reports BSS.

With 13 more fatalities from the disease reported on Saturday, the death toll reached 1,146, including 483 in Bogura, 206 in Rajshahi with 111 in its city and 128 in Chapainawabganj, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health.

The new daily infection figure shows a declining trend compared to the previous day's figure of 1,054, the health department sources said.

Among the infected people, 49,437 have, so far, been cured from the lethal virus with 525 new recoveries found on the day.

A total of 9,659 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at different designated hospitals here.

Besides, all the positive cases for Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 16,576 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 11,181 have by now been released. On the other hand, 215 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 289 others were released from isolation during the last 24 hours till 8 am today. Of the total positive cases, the highest 163 were detected in Rajshahi, including 142 in its city, followed by 156 in Bogura, 155 in Pabna, 62 in Sirajganj, 29 in Chapainawabganj and 24 in Naogaon districts.

With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 21,651 in Rajshahi, including 17,417 in its city, 4,697 in Chapainawabganj, 5,547 in Naogaon, 5,614 in Natore, 3,954 in Joypurhat, 16,882 in Bogura, 6,551 in Sirajganj and 8,264 in Pabna.

A total of 94,746 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent the community transmission of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).

Of them, 83,736 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their 14-day quarantine.
