The number of corona virus cases crossed the 58,000 mark in Chattogram district where the highest infection rate continues rising again in recent days, reports BSS.
The infection rate is a highest 24.43 percent today after the outbreak of corona.
Health officials said the number of COVID-19 cases speedily raised to 58,365 as 368 more persons were reported Covid-19 positive after testing 1506 samples on Monday in the district.
"The infection rate is showing a quick enhancing trend again and recovery rate is also gradually reducing continuously in the district in recent weeks," Focal Person of COVID-19 Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS on Tuesday.
The health experts of Chattogram urged city dwellers again and again to strictly follow health rules and use masks.
Among the newly detected patients, 226 are from Chattogram city and 142 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.
With the three deaths on Monday, the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths in Chattogram reached 691, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, said.
Among the reported fatalities, 470 were the residents of the port city and the rest 221 were from different upazilas of the district, he said.
Civil surgeon told BSS that among the total infected persons, 44,583 are the residents of the port city and the rest 12,782 are residents of different upazilas of the district. "The number of cured patients from the lethal virus infection has reached 49,177 in the Chattogram district with the recovery of 139 more patients on Thursday,"
Dr Rabbi said, adding that the percentage of recovery rate stands at 84.26. A total of 6470 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, the health official mentioned.
