Covid-19 test lab launched at DU

Dhaka University Centre for Advanced Research in Sciences (DUCARS) has set up a Coronavirus Testing Lab, says a press release issued by Public Relations office of DU on Tuesday. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the lab on Tuesday as the chief guest. 

At this time, the convener of the Dhaka University Corona Virus Response Technical Committee, Prof. Dr. Sharif Akhtaruzzaman, Director of the Center for Advanced Research in Sciences MA Malek, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr Shahriar Nabi, Chairman of the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology Dr. Zeba Islam Seraj, Chairman of the Department of Microbiology Prof. Dr. Sabita Rizwana Rahman, Chairman of the Department of Genetic Engineering  and Biotechnology Prof. 

Dr. Mohammad Nazmul Ahsan, Dhaka University Teachers’ Association’s General Secretary Prof. Dr. Md. Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan and others were present.

Prof Akhtaruzzaman expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to all those who have come forward to establish and run the lab for doing humanitarian work for the greater good of the nation. He requested all those involved in the management of the lab to be diligent in mitigating all kinds of risks and in maintaining security.

It should be noted that, about four hundred corona virus samples can be tested every day in this lab. In addition, experts say that further redesigning and enriching the lab will enable higher virology research In future as well.
