Covid-19 recovery rises in Bangladesh

The recovery rate from the Covid-19 pandemic is rising in Bangladesh by the day.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the recovery rate went up 64.16 percent on Friday when 3,378 patients were released from different hospitals.

The recovery count rose to 196,836.

In the last 24 hours till 8am of Friday, 2,211 new cases were registered while 47 died from the disease.

The total number of cases surged to 306,794 while deaths 4,174. The death rate is now 1.36 percent.

Some 13,741 samples were tested at 92 authorised laboratories across the country during the time.

Among the 47 deaths, 32 are male and 15 female, the DGHS said.

Four are in their 20s, one in his 30s, five in their 40s, 11 in their 50s, while 26 are above 60 years.

According to the division-wise data, 29 deaths took place in Dhaka division, three in Chattogram division, seven in Khulna division, four in Rangpur division and rest are in other divisions.

A total of 15,14,126 samples have so far been tested since January to detect the Covid-19 cases in Bangladesh.

A total of 259,514 people have so far received healthcare services from telemedicine, according to the DGHS.

Bangladesh first confirmed the disease on March 8 and the first death on March 18.

The WHO declared the virus pandemic on March 11.
