A total of 816 more people were cured from Covid-19 in Chattogram district on Monday, taking the recovery figure to 65,975. "The number of cured patients from the lethal virus infection has reached
65,975 in Chattogram district with the recovery of 816 more patients on Monday," Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said, adding that the percentage of recovery rate stands at 66.15.
Meanwhile, five persons died of Covid-19 and 219 more people have tested positive for the deadly virus in the last 24-hour till Monday morning in the district.
The death toll from the virus reached 1,183 after five fatalities were reported in the district, said Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi.
Among the reported fatalities, 670 were the residents of the port city and the rest 513 were from different upazilas of the district, he said. The number of COVID-19 cases speedily raised to 97,352 as 219 more persons were reported Covid-19 positive after testing 1419 samples in the district. The infection rate is 15.43 percent.
Among the newly detected patients, 119 are from Chattogram city and 100 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said. Among the total infected persons, 71,123 are the residents of the port city and the rest 26,219 are residents of different upazilas of the district.
A total of 3,924 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals in the town, the health official mentioned.
