The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) recovery cases reached 60,934 in Chattogram district where the infection rate continues reducing in recent days, reports BSS.
“The number of cured patients from the lethal virus has reached 60,934 in the district with the recovery of 593 more patients on Friday,” Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, said, adding that the percentage of recovery rate stands at 64.58.
Meanwhile, five persons died of Covid-19 and 466 more people have tested positive for the deadly virus in the last 24-hour till this morning in the district.
The death tolls from the virus reached 1,116 after five fatalities were reported in the district, said Dr Rabbi.
Among the reported fatalities, 646 were the residents of the port city and the rest 470 were from different upazilas of the district, he said.
The number of COVID-19 cases speedily rose to 94,350 with 446 new after testing 2330 samples in the district. The infection rate is 19.97 percent.
Among the newly detected patients, 297 are from Chattogram city and 169 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said. Among the total infected persons, 69,338 are from the port city and the rest 25,012 from different upazilas.
