Covid-19 deaths and infections continue to fluctuate

Bangladesh registered 25 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Monday taking the death toll to 12,401. 

The country recorded 1,441 new cases of coronavirus. Now the total number of infected people stands at 7,90,521 according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday.

A total of 17,683 samples were tested across the country till 8am Monday.

The number of fatalities has declined while the number of newly infected has increased compared to a day earlier. The country recorded 28 deaths and 1,354 new cases on Sunday and 38 deaths and 1,028 new cases on Saturday. 

The death rate now stands at 1.57 percent in the country, added the release. 

The current positivity rate stands at 8.15 percent. The total positivity rate stands at 13.54 percent. 

Among the 25 deceased, 21 were men, and four were women. Of them, 23 victims died in different hospitals across the country while two died at home.

Seven of the deceased hailed from Khulna, six each from Dhaka and Chattogram divisions, and three each from Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions.

At least 834 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 731,531 and the recovery rate is 92.54 percent.  

As of Monday, 3,478,958 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 167,544,279 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
