Covid-19 Daily infection rate continues to decline in Rangpur div

The daily coronavirus (COVID-19) infection rate continues to decline consistently during the more than one week period in Rangpur division bringing relief to common people, reports BSS. 

Health officials said only 11 new people were reported coronavirus positive today after testing 174 collected samples at two COVID-19 laboratories in the division at the daily infection rate of 6.32 percent while it was 3.23 percent on Saturday, 9.29 percent on Friday, 8.87 percent on Thursday, 4.79 percent on Wednesday, 6.91 percent on Tuesday, 8.59 percent on Monday and 7.98 percent on Sunday last.

Among the 11 new patients diagnosed today, only one hailing from Rangpur was reported positive after diagnosing 80 samples at the Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) COVID-19 laboratory in the city.

On the other hand, 10 new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) COVID-19 laboratory in Dinajpur.

“The 10 new COVID-19 patients include eight of Dinajpur and two of Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process at 7 pm.

Talking to BSS, Divisional Assistant Director (Health) and Focal Person of COVID-19 for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 15,398 as 11 new positive cases were reported today.

“The district-wise break-up of the total 15,398 patients stands at 3,929 in Rangpur, 771 in Panchagarh, 1,311 in Nilphamari, 956 in Lalmonirhat, 1,000 in Kurigram, 1,483 in Thakurgaon, 4,516 in Dinajpur and 1,432 in Gaibandha,” he said.
