Covid-19 cases reach 56,880 in Ctg

A total of 247 more people were tested positive for Covid-19 after testing 1,162 samples in the last 24 hours in eight COVID-19 laboratories in Chattogram district till Wednesday evening, climbing the number of infections to 56,880, reports BSS.

According to the hospital sources, the infection rate is 21.25 percent during the period. The daily new infection figure shows a slight enhanced compared to the previous day’s figure of 225, but the recovery rate has been reducing continuously in the district in recent weeks,” Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said.

Among the infected patients 123 are from Chattogram city and 124 from different upazilas of the district.

The health expert of Chattogram urged city dwellers again and again to strictly follow health rules and use masks due to continuous increasing corona infections here.

With one more death on Wednesday the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths in Chattogram stood at 666, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, said.

Among the reported fatalities, 464 were the residents of the port city and the rest 202 were from different upazilas of the district, he said.  

Among the total 56,880 coronavirus infected people, 44,627 are the residents of the port city and the rest 12,253 are the inhabitants of different upazilas of the district, he continued.   

“The number of cured patients from the lethal virus infection has reached 48,137 in the district with the recovery of 164 more patients on Friday,” the health official said, adding that the percentage of recovery rate stands at 84.62.

A total of 6353 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, he said.
