Court officials, employees urged to be poor-friendly

Satkhira Legal Aid Committee Chairman and Senior District and Sessions Judge Sheikh Mofizur Rahman said that all the officers and employees of the court would be poor friendly and would show maximum compassion in legal aid cases.

He made the remarks while addressing a quarterly coordination meeting on the progress of the district and field level legal aid programme on Monday afternoon with the participation of court officials and employees.

The meeting was organized by Satkhira District Legal Aid Committee in collaboration with the Women Job Creation Center with the implementation of Democracy International and the USAID's Promoting Peace and Justice (PPJ) Activity unit in Satkhira.

Sheikh Mofizur Rahman, Chairman of National Legal Aid Agency's Satkhira District Committee and senior district and sessions judge, told court officials that they should show maximum compassion in legal aid cases. 

Only the poorest people in the society apply for legal aid and the government pays for them. He called on the court staff to do something for the poor so that they can get justice quickly.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Humayun Kabir spoke as a special guest at the meeting. Judge Court Administrative Officer Abu Sufian, District Judge Court Presenter Titu Mallick, Women and Children Court Presenter Md. Khalilur Rahman and others were also present at the time.

Promoting Peace and Justice project's Program Manager Yunus Ali, Finance Officer Sandhabala Ghosh and Programme Officer Sheikh Rajib Kamal were also present there. The entire meeting was conducted by District Legal Aid Officer and Senior Assistant Judge Salma Akter.
