A Dhaka court has deferred the deadline for the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to submit its further investigation report in the murder case of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Fardin Noor Parash.
On Thursday, when the report was scheduled to be filed, CID investigators failed to submit it. Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jamshed Alam then fixed September 23 as the new date, court sources confirmed.
Earlier, on February 6, 2023, Detective Branch Inspector Yasin Shikder submitted a final report, which the victim’s family challenged. Following the father’s no-confidence petition, the court on April 16, 2023, ordered CID to conduct further investigation.
Fardin, 24, went missing on November 5, 2022. Two days later, his body was recovered from the Shitalakkhya River in Narayanganj. He was buried on November 8 in Fatullah.
His father, Kazi Nur Uddin, filed a case with Rampura Police Station accusing Fardin’s girlfriend, Amatulah Bushra, and unidentified others of murder and concealing the body.
Bushra was arrested on November 10, 2022, from her Rampura residence and placed on a five-day remand for interrogation.
