Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader has been banned by the court. Dhaka Joint District Judge (1st Court) Masudul Haque issued this order on Monday (October 31). A copy of the court ban was submitted to Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury by the Opposition Chief Whip Mosiur Rahman Rangan on Tuesday (November 1).

In this regard, Mosiur Rahman Rangan said in an interview, “Japa chairman GM Quader has been forbidden by the court to refrain from party activities, and I have delivered a copy of the report to the Speaker.”

As per the order of the court dated December 28, 2019, an injunction has been issued restraining respondent No. 1 (i.e. GM Kader) from taking any decision and conducting any party proceedings in the light of the Constitution.

Related sources conveyed that on October 4, the Jatiya party’s (JaPa) expelled leader, former MP Ziaul Haque Mridha filed a case against GM Quader. Subsequently, the court issued this temporary ban in light of that case.

On the other hand, the Speaker has not decided to change the Chief Whip Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly. The Jatiya Party finally partook in the session despite proclaiming that it would not join the parliament until the matter was resolved. Deputy Leader of Opposition GM Quader was also in the Tuesday session.

In Addition, Chief Whip Moshiur Rahman attended in his seat the whole session. He said he had met the Speaker before the session and delivered a copy of the court verdict to the Speaker by himself on that occasion.

Furthermore, the Speaker’s office has announced that the rules of procedure (rules and process) regarding the change of the leader of the opposition party and chief whip are being examined, as Mosiur Rahman Rangan also gave a letter. Hence, a decision will be made after checking everything.
