Bangladesh registered 70 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Sunday, taking the total number of deaths to 26,563.
The country recorded 2,430 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,514,456, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday.
The death rate now stands at 1.75 percent in the country, added the release.
The current positivity rate stands at 9.66 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 16.71 percent.
Among the 70 deceased, 40 were men, and 30 were women. 31 of the deceased were from Dhaka division, 20 from Chattogram, six from Sylhet, four from Rangpur, three each from Khulna and Rajshahi, two from Barisal and one was from Mymensingh division.
A total of 25,163 samples were tested across the country till 8am Sunday.
During this period 5,060 Covid-19 patients have been recovered. Up until now, a total of 1,451,063 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 95.81 percent.
As of Sunday 4,578,543 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 221,272,867 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
