Bangladesh registered 237 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Wednesday, taking the total number of deaths to 23,398.
The country recorded 10,420 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,386,742, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday.
The country has been witnessing more than 200 deaths every day for the last 18 days. On July 7, the death toll crossed 200 for the first time. 201 people died on that day.
The death rate now stands at 1.69 percent in the country, added the release. The current positivity rate stands at 23.45 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 16.80 percent.
Among the 237 deceased, 134 were men, and 103 were women. Of the victims, 234 died in different hospitals across the country while three died at home.
105 of the deceased were from Dhaka division, 54 from Chattogram, 23 from Sylhet, 20 from Khulna, 11 from Mymensingh, 10 from Rajshahi, eight from Barisal and six were from Rangpur division.
A total of 44,430 samples were tested across the country till 8am Wednesday.
During this period 13,313 Covid-19 patients have recovered. Up until now, a total of 1,248,075 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 90 percent.
As of Wednesday, 4,330,782 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 204,968,535 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
