The largest flying academy in the country was closed in Chattogram. The Arirang Flying School is a subsidiary of Youngone Group, a South Korea based industrial group.

The training camp for future pilots was set up in Chattogram on the initiative of Youngone Chairman and CEO Kihak Sung. It was approved in 2010 by the concerned authorities.

The flying school was officially closed on Sunday. Authorities abruptly shut down the South Korea based company in Chittagong for "unavoidable reasons."

More than a hundred pilots trained from Arirang Flying School are now working in all the airlines including Biman Bangladesh Airlines for the last few years.

At present, more than 50 students are studying to become pilots in this school. These students were informed about the decision to close the school over phone calls.

The South Korea owned Chattogram based Youngone Group owns a company called Arirang Aviation. Corporate flights, charter flights and air ambulance services are currently being provided under this organization.
